Prof. Dr. Acar BALTAŞ

Professor Acar Baltaş, has been one of the pioneers in widening public awareness in Turkey with regard to psychology as a solution to personal needs as well as corporate issues. He completed his higher education at Istanbul University, Faculty of Arts, Department of Psychology. He did his doctorate in higher brain functions at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, and earned the title of Medical Sciences Doctor in the field of clinical neurophysiology. In addition to his scientific publications, Baltaş wrote multiple books that have reached 700,000 readers. Baltaş has been instrumental in the international success of numerous organizations with his training programs stemming from Turkish culture’s value system, and teamwork. He is the co-founder of Baltaş Group and manages the corporate with Prof. Dr. Zuhal Baltaş. Baltaş Group aims observable mindset change and measurable results for employee- and corporate-level effectiveness.

Prof. Dr. Sinan CANAN

Sinan Canan was born in Ankara in 1972. Graduated from Hacettepe University Biology Department in 1995. He's done his MSc in Histology and Embryology department and PhD in Medical Phsyiology Department of Medical School of Ondokuz Mayis University, Samsun. He became an Associate Professor in Medical Physiology in 2010. He studied and worked in different instituitons, including Bartholin Institute Neurological Research Lab (Copenhagen, Denmark, 1998), Baskent University (Ankara, 2004-2009) and Yildirim Beyazit University (Ankara, 2010-2016). Dr. Canan generally preferred to work in multidisciplinary areas, including behavioral neuroscience, electrophysiology, chaos theory, complexity, fractal geometry and fractal behavior, evolutionary neuropsychology, language and learning. He also founded the first public neuroscience education initiative in Turkey, [n]Beyin ([n]Brain) in 2013 and has participated hundreds of public lectures, TV programs and educational activities across Turkey since then. He published several books and papers for the general public, including “Kimsenin Bilemeyeceği Şeyler” (The Things That No One Can Know, book, Tuti Kitap, 2015), Değişen Beynim (My 5 Changing Brain, book, Tuti Kitap, 2015), "Unutulacak Şeyler" (Things to be Forgetten, book, Tuti kitap, 2016) and “Dijital Gelecekte Insan Kalmak” (Staying Human in Digital Future, Tuti Kitap 2018) in Turkish language. Currently he is a research and lecturing professor in Uskudar University Psychology Department, head of Neuromarketing postgraduate program. He is also the co-founder of AcikBeyin (OpenBrain) Education and Consulting Company founded in 2017. Dr. Sinan Canan deeply believes that the human beings are too complicated to live on only one profession and the human life is too long to spend for only one branch of knowledge, and he continues to work according to this personal principle.

Dr. Özgür BOLAT

Dr. Özgür BOLAT graduated from Boğaziçi University, Faculty of Education. He received his master’s degree from Harvard University Faculty of Education with Fulbright and Turkish Education Foundation (TEV) scholarship. When returned to Turkey, he worked as a lecturer for two years in Boğaziçi University. He received his PhD from the Faculty of Education at Cambridge University. In 2007-2008, he has taken courses and conducted research on leadership at MIT Sloan School of Management. In 2007, he was awarded by “the Best Young Researcher” at an international conference held in New Zealand. Dr Özgür BOLAT works currently as a consultant for schools, companies, and TEV. He was a columnist at Hürriyet. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors and Advisory Board of ÖRAV, FODER, TEVİTÖL and Monetary Status Platform. In 2008, Özgür Bolat initiated the Teacher Leadership Project in schools. The project has been implemented more than 100 public and private schools. At the same time, he teaches parents the principles of raising happy and successful children at the Parenting School, which he established within the Developing Family Academy.

Khalid Arar, PhD, Professor in Educational Leadership and Policy, Associate editor of International Journal of Leadership in Education. He conducted studies in the Middle East, Europe and North America on the issues of equity, diversity and social justice in K-12 and higher education. His recent books include: Migrants, Refugees and Global Challenges in Higher Education (Peter Lang Publishing, with Kussai Haj-Yehia, David Ross, & Yasar Kondakci) and Education, Immigration and Migration: Policy, Leadership and Praxis for a Changing World (Emerald Publishing, with Jeffry Brooks & Ira Bogotch).

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seyfi ÖZGÜZEL is Associate Professor of Communication Sciences at the Cukurova University, with a BA Mathematics at the Gazi University, MA Strategic Planning at the Utrecht University, certificated as sworn interpreter and translator Dutch-Turkish and vice versa and his PhD in Sociolinguistic at the Tilburg University. In this period, he earned a Fulbright Award to do research on bilingualism in the United States. He has been working in the Netherlands for about 32 years in the educational field; amongst others as Inspector for Special Services and Inspector of Higher Education and Universities connected to the Netherlands Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, responsible for tasks in the field of intercultural education, social innovation, mother tongue education and preparation of educational programs for multilingual and multicultural populations. As manager and consultant of CCS-Cross Cultural Solutions and as Personal Employability Program Consultant he advised about entrepreneurship in a multicultural society. At 2010 he started his Turkish academic career at the Akdeniz University. Nowadays he is head of the department of Intercultural Communication and director of the Centre for Intercultural Communication Studies (KIM) at the Cukurova University. He also works as research fellow at Free University of Brussels (VUB). Topics of teaching and research are globalization, intercultural communication, (super-)diversity and management, identity development, migration, mobility, organizational communication and public relations.

Prof. Dr. Arvi SEPP

Prof. Dr. Arvi SEPP studied German and English Literature, Sociology, and Literary Theory in Leuven, Louvain-la-Neuve, Gießen and Berlin. He is currently Professor in German Literature at the University of Antwerp, Professor in Translation Studies at the Free University of Brussels (VUB). His research interests center on comparative literature, twentieth-century German (Jewish) literature, literary translation, intercultural communication. He is specialized in research on the representation of migration and exile in literature and the relation between migration, multilingualism and translation. His classes at the Free University of Brussels are very much informed by didactic methods to enhance the sensibility for diversity in the classroom. In the context of these topics, he was e.g. awarded the Tauber Institute Research Award (Brandeis University) and the Prize for Research Communication of the Royal Society of Belgium for the Arts and Sciences.

Prof. Dr. Jeroen AARSSEN

Prof. Dr. Jeroen AARSSEN (1964) has an MA in applied linguistics (Tilburg University) and in Turkish (Utrecht University) and obtained his PhD on bilingual language development of Turkish children in The Netherlands (Tilburg U.). Between 1990-2001, he worked as researcher in (multilingual) language development at Tilburg University. Since 2001 he has been working for the Sardes agency (Utrecht) in various roles: as adviser on ECEC (Early Childhood Education and Care), education and language, as teacher trainer, as developer of learning materials and training courses, as project manager. He developed a training for preschool and kindergarten teachers on enhancing Executive Function in young children. He was project leader in a number of international ECEC projects in Turkey. He is Board Member of the International Step by Step Association, a network organisation on ECEC.

Prof. Dr. Philippe HUMBLÉ

Prof. Dr. Philippe HUMBLÉ studied Romance Philology at the Catholic University of Louvain and holds a PhD in English Language and Literature (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina / University of Birmingham). For twenty-five years he taught Spanish Language and Literature, Bilingual Lexicography and Translation Studies at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil). Since 2009, he teaches Spanish Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). He has published on lexicography, translation studies, migrant literature, corpora studies and intercultural communication in translation. He is currently interested in combining insights gained from these various disciplines to research the impact of translation on geopolitical issues and the translation flows that underlie them.
